Water. A basic necessity of life.

As Americans, clean water is such an integral part of our lives that we might not consider what life would be like without it.  We use it to wash our dishes, take showers, flush toilets, clean cars, water lawns, cook food and do so much more. This is not the case in much of the developing world.

783 million people do not have access to clean water.  In many countries, women and children walk miles just to get water out of streams or ponds, often which are contaminated with bacteria and parasites.  An estimated 2.2 million people die ever year from water-related diseases.

In Hebrews 13:16 it says, “Do not neglect to do good and share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”  In recognition of World Water Day, on Sunday March 22, Family Cathedral began a campaign to drill water wells and provide clean water in some of the third-world countries that need it the most. Our goal is to fund the building of 25 wells in 12 months. Through our partnership with the Christian Broadcasting Network, we are able to drill each water well for $1,800.

How can you help?  Be in prayer about how God would have you and your family invest in bringing clean water to many.  Allow Him to stretch you and challenge you.  We believe that there are families that God will speak to and ask to fund an entire water well on their own.  Some might be able to fund half of a well or a quarter of a well, and others that may make a monthly commitment. Through this campaign, we know that we will hear some incredible testimonies of sacrifice and God’s provision.
